Alternative liquid dielectrics in power transformer insulation: a review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Transformer liquid dielectrics evolved where mineral oil has been the dominant choice until emergence of synthetic esters and natural esters. Natural ester-based oils have under extensive investigations to enhance their properties for replacing petroleum-based oil, which is non-biodegradable poor dielectric properties. This paper focuses on exposition ester application in mixed transformer dielectrics. Physical, chemical, electrical, ageing characteristics these dissolved gas analysis (DGA) were reviewed. Physical include viscosity, pour point, flash fire point are vital indicators heat insulation risk. Chemical considered water content, acid number, DGA, corrosive sulphur, sludge content limit detect degradation corrosion due ageing. Electrical including breakdown voltage consistent during overload fault conditions. These evolving alternative reviewed based ASTM International standards Electro technical Commission acceptable review was compiled avail modern methodologies both industry scholars, also providing significance using power transformers as they concluded show superiority over non-mixed

Flow Electrification Measurements of Transformer Insulation using a Couette Flow Facility - Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, IEEE Transactions on

A rotating cylindrical electrode apparatus, which provided cylindrical Couette flow, was used to simulate flow electrification in an electric power transformer. The apparatus had Shell Diala A transformer oil filling the annulus between coaxial cylindrical stainless steel electrodes that were either bare metal, or covered by a thin copper sheet and/or EHV-Weidmann HiVal pressboard insulation. E...

Moisture solubility for differently conditioned transformer oils - Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, IEEE Transactions on [see also Electrical Insulation, IEEE

It is important to monitor the moisture content of transformer oil in a transformer. One parameter of particular interest is the moisture solubility of transformer oil. It has been reported that transformer oils under different conditions have different solubility. Measurements of solubility for four different types of conditioned oil are presented in this paper: fresh Shell Diala AX oil, lab-a...

Effect of Stress on Transformer Insulation

Power transformers use Kraft paper as insulation in the electrical windings present in the core, which is immersed in oil. In service, the temperature of the windings of core will go to 75C to 85C. If the transformer is over loaded, then the temperature can exceed upto 100°C causing the cellulose chains in the paper to cleave at an accelerated rate, which results in the degradation of mechanica...

Analysis transformer insulation by PDC method

Paragraph is about mathematical interpretation of transformer insulation system. Base of this system is composed by two elements oil and paper. We need to simulate this system for more precisely results from measurement. Section three describes how to calculate relaxation currents and how that currents are generated. So we are able to compare measured and computed values and deduce actual condi...
